Dear New Client,
My work grew from questions like these: What would the world be like if we each had access to and acted on our own inner truths? How different might our lives feel if we learned from the basic rhythms of our selves and our environments – if we learned how to live more completely? What if we, in the words of Gandhi, dare to be the change we want to see in the world? How might our lives change if we dared to love as deeply as possible? What if we saw past whatever limitations exist in our lives – or that we believe exist in the world – to a larger vision, and we lived that vision? (Read More)
Distinguishing Qualities
of My Work:
Expertise:
I have my Ph.D. in psychology, which provides me with a depth of insight into why individuals act or respond the way that they do and how that behavior might be changed.
My cross-disciplined knowledge of psychological theories and techniques as well as healing theories and techniques gives me a deep understanding of which methods are most useful to an individual’s growth at a particular stage of development or with a particular character type.
In addition to having my Ph.D in psychology, I have studied personal development from an early age --including making significant changes in my own life including healing through my own depression, anxiety, and trauma. I have worked intensively with and within groups which give me a comprehensive understanding of group dynamics and leadership issues –especially as they relate to a woman’s work and development.
Approach:
I offer an integrative approach, called Innerwork, designed to work with the individual character and personal styles of processing that each client possesses in order to uncover and release old patterns, increase awareness, and effect personal change.
Innerwork - Self Awareness through Integrative Psychotherapy
Innerwork is an integrative psychotherapeutic approach to personal growth. It is based on the theory that deep change cannot be effected by talk therapy alone. Innerwork is holistic; it incorporates therapeutic modalities that emphasize awareness of the body, mind, spirit, and emotions promoting understanding and deep personal change.
As needed, Innerwork draws on:
- Somatic Approaches
- Expressive Arts
- Sub-personality Techniques
- Spiritual Counseling
- Holistic Success Coaching
Somatic Approaches, such as Core Energetics, are body-oriented therapies used to integrate a client's mental, emotional, spiritual and physical aspects. I offer sessions of somatic approaches to clients who are naturally inclined to process issues kinesthetically or are seeking a deep level of healing. Somatic approaches provide clients with a profound understanding of their emotions and ingrained patterns.
Expressive Arts utilize creative forms such as drawing, movement, and sounding to help clients process intense emotions or work through deeply embedded issues. I offer Expressive Arts techniques when clients are having difficulty connecting to their feelings or are feeling overwhelmed. This facilitates clarity and releases blocked emotions.
Sub-personality Techniques use the imagination to help clients come to a deeper understanding of who they are and help them navigate the complexity of how they think and feel. Sub-personality techniques are often used to help clients change behavior, to regain access to parts of themselves, and to work with feelings such as fear, anger, grief, or shame.
Spiritual Counseling aims to empower a person to further her or his growth through recognizing and becoming a part of the greater experience of life. It provides clients with support and techniques to more completely experience his or her spiritual nature. I offer spiritual techniques in a non-dogmatic way to clients who wish to develop this part of their life, regardless of their spiritual orientation.
Holistic Success Coaching is future focused and results based. Coaching techniques can be applied to any area of a person's life. I offer coaching sessions to clients who need assistance with planning, problem solving, or immediate life changes.
